Community Programs & Education

Relationships are complex and can be challenging.

Our programs are designed to empower individuals and encourage them to live their best life – abuse free.

Programs

Self Empowerment 1

Through information, group discussion, activities and self-reflection, women are empowered to discover their strengths, identify healthy choices and make positive changes in their lives. Participants receive support and gain awareness which strengthens them to live a violence-free lifestyle based on safety, respect, and equality in their relationships.

We are excited to offer a newly developed program, the “Living Well” Program – support, connection and wellbeing for older adults. The group is designed to support older adults who’ve experienced or are at risk of experiencing elder abuse situations. Our aim is to promote protective factors that strengthen seniors to resist and overcome these experiences.

The fall group will run for 8 Wednesday mornings from October 9 – November 27, 2019 at the Legacy Centre. We’ll be accepting 15 participants, who are invited to attend as many of the 8 sessions as they’re able to.  We ask interested seniors and/or their support person to call in to the LIHS Support Line (780-875-0966) to register their name and contact information. A program facilitator will follow up with them for a brief conversation and to confirm their participation.

In partnership with community elementary schools, this group supports children, 6-10 years, with their healthy emotional and social development. The program provides children with fun, engaging activities with an emphasis on strengthening self-esteem, building friendships and making healthy choices.

This is an 8 week program. Currently this program is being run in partnership with a local school.
