Project Impact

For over 20 years, the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters has been collecting data to both prove and improve the services they provide to women, their children, and seniors accessing shelters. The data to knowledge process is critical for all members of the council and has resulted in promising and evidence-based shelter practice.

The aim of Project Impact was to develop in social sector organizations the ability to do credible self-studies of their impact. As such, this is a capacity-building project. The reports in this compendium are written by the teams from women’s shelters in Alberta and represent the findings from their data collection and analysis.

For our study, we analyzed the Lloydminster Community Youth Centre. LCYC provides an opportunity for vulnerable youth in our community and surrounding area to receive drop in recreational, social, and learning opportunities; practical, emotional, and mental health support; and mentorship and leadership opportunities.
